The Coat Guide In Preparation To Mantelsonndeg
Next Sunday is “Mantelsonndeg” again, aka a Sunday where all the shops and boutiques around Luxembourg are open and selling coats on sale. Of course, BIF is participating in those festivities. In order to prepare you, here are the 5 biggest trends of the coat/jacket front!
You can never go wrong with a maxi coat to wrap yourself into during the colder months. Depending on colour and material, the coat can easily take you from casual-chic daywear to put-together evening style. Psst, our personal favourite this season is pairing a classic-cut coat with a shorter puffer gilet for an added styling twist and extra warmth (because Jesus, when did it get THIS cold in Luxembourg?).
If there’s one thing that always stays on-trend, it’s leather. This season, we’re continuing to see the oversized biker jacket style, but there’s good news for the more classic ladies amongst us, as the leather material is also seen more on tailored blazers and short-sleeved, waist-enhancing vests.
Capes are all the shout in AW24, as seen on the runway at designers such as Bottega Veneta, Chloé and Balmain, and we’re not mad about it! They’re comfortable, versatile, cozy and warm, aka everything we’re looking for in a coat.
Last but not least, the shaggy styles keep on bringing out our inner Mob-wife, especially when it’s brought about in a cropped faux fur look. For those that prefer longer styles, keep an eye out for teddy coats in dark chocolate or burgundy tones to wrap yourself into. That might make going out of the house just about bearable, once the temperatures drop to 0° and below.
