Watch Out : SS25 Trend Overview and Colour Analysis
Yes, it’s only February. Yes, it’s still cold. And yes, Spring-Summer still seems miles away. BUT what better way is there to get in the mood for the warmer days than looking at gorgeous looks from the catwalk and wonder what dusty clothes from the back of our wardrobe we need to get cleaned this time in order to be fashionably on-trend in SS25?
The good news? There aren’t many huge changes between SS24 and SS25. Consider it more subtle adaptations and refinements, with a few tiny twists. Let’s discover your new BFFs for the upcoming season!
Skirts keep their maxi length and flowy nature, but a lot of designers opted for an asymmetrical hemline, adding a special ‘something’ to the cult favourite. Examples of this could be seen on the runways at Alaïa, Bottega Venetta, Rotate and Prada for example.
For those, who like (or need) it a bit more put-together, fear not: suits aren’t going anywhere. For SS25, the cut is pretty loose-fitted, allowing maximum comfort, but if you’re a fan of more tailored looks, you’ll be glad to hear that we’re seeing a lot of belt-on-blazer combos, creating an hourglass silhouette and further diversifying our styling options.
Another prominent silhouette of the season are trench coats and anoraks which you’ll be seeing either in a radically cropped, majorly oversized or in a combination with other textures, as seen on the runways of Burberry (who opted for a faux feather detailing) or Monse (who sewed a gray hoodie detail into their khaki number).
Get acquainted with fringes, platform shoes and intricate patterns, because 70s fashion is sticking around for another Spring-Summer season! This time around, we’ll see a lot of natural and earthy tones combined with relaxed silhouettes.
While we’re talking about patterns and prints, animal prints are ones to stick around. Rather than being bombarded with leo prins all-over, we’re seeing a more mixed prints palette with cow, tiger, zebra and giraffe-prints marking their appearances. And if those are still too daunting for you, consider opting for a pair of shoes, a bag, scarf or other accessory to get acquainted with the trend. You won’t regret it, we promise!
In terms of colour, there’ll be a lot of pastels out and about again (who would’ve guessed), BUT there are some interesting changes as well. One of the most prominent colours will be blue in all its different hues, be it a soft baby blue, a deep navy or rich cobalt blue. Since it’s the year of the snake, it comes as no surprise that green will continue being a fan-favourite in SS25. Besides the earthy colours, there’ll also be a resurrection of cream tones, which pair effortlessly with most looks and give a sophisticated elegance to any outfit.
