Autumn-Winter Fashion 2024: Top Trends to Shop Now
We’ve had a very productive weekend, packing up the frilly dresses and shorts and finally unboxing the Autumn-Winter collection that you’ll be able to shop from Monday, 9th September, onwards in our boutique. And to get you in the mood for the cozier months, here’s a rundown of all the big hitters and trends that will soon begin to flood your social media and our racks.
Burgundy Bags and Shoes
This will probably be no surprise for you, but burgundy is THE colour for AW24, especially when it comes to shoes and bags. If you’re more of a neutral-coloured wardrobe girly, do not worry! Combine your favourite jeans and muted colours with pointy, lack kitten heels, slouchy oversized bags, or comfy velvet sneakers, all in a rich burgundy, and you’re right on trend.
The Suede Slouch
While we’re on the oversized bag trend already: the It-Girls are going for suede materials when it comes to their bags. Say adios to your mini-bags (we’ve never had enough space to fit all of our unnecessary stuff into them anyway) and hello to the slouchy tote bags, as seen from Khaite and The Row.
Nature is King
Discover your bond to nature, be it through colours - have you heard? forest green, chocolate brown and sunset orange are all the rage nowadays - or full-on camouflage print à la Pharrell Williams for Louis Vuitton.
The 80s Are Staying
… and that’s on period! First introduced to the Fashion world by French couturier Claude Montana, also known as “the King of the Shoulder Pad” in the early 1980s, the statement uniform has come and gone from the runway. Over the last couple of seasons, oversized blazers and bold shoulders have been present on runways and in street fashion alike and AW24 won’t mark a difference here, so make sure to keep yours on-hand for the upcoming months.
Neckline Extraordinaire
Wide scarf- or poncho-style tops and extravagant necklines are here to up your game when it comes to tops and sweaters this season, which makes even the simplest of outfits look like it took you hours to style.
Up Your Pant Game
Leave the palazzo pants and straight-legged jeans out. Pair with above-mentioned kitten heels, slouchy bag, simple top and faux fur coat, and off you go!
Bring Out Your Inner Animal
Preferably, in form of leopard prints on clothes, shoes or bags. This trend is hands-down one of the most controversial ones on our list and has a very (I mean, VERY) long-standing history in fashion history, starting with its debuts in depictions of the goddess of wisdom in Ancient Egypt, Seshat, who was oftentimes depicted wearing the iconic animal print. It continued its history all throughout the millenias, starring on luxurious fashion magazine pages and starlets such as Josephine Baker, Brigitte Bardot and David Bowie alike. But with every high also comes a low. For the leopard print, it came in form of a reputational downfall, going from symbol for luxury to being considered tacky and unfashionable, and now, being effortlessly stylish again. Thanks, TikTok and your #mobwifeaesthetic - we appreciate your contribution to the controversial superstar of fashion prints’ return!
Florals
If you’re still not over SS24, we’ve got good news for you: you can keep your floral prints and embroideries around for the colder months. Designers like Rotate, Giorgio Armani and Richard Quinn have done the same, so why not you?
Go Bold or Go Short
Or how about both? Especially when it comes to outerwear, we’re going extra short or extra large this season. In-betweens are not allowed. Classic pieces such as blazers or trench coats got a revamp this season and will be seen as cropped variation.
It’s All About Texture
Faux fur and shearling materials have been a go-to over the past cold seasons and the outerwear for AW24 will be no exception. The benefits? It’s cozy and comfortable to wear, and can effortlessly elevate any simple look in no time. The downsides? … Honestly, I can’t think of any, so make yourself a favour and get that faux fur coat out of your wardrobe again.
