Suede
History lesson incoming: suede is thought to date back to the Paleolithic era (Old Stone Age). Unlike regular leather, suede is made from the underside of animal skin, giving it a softer feel but making it less durable. The word comes from the French term gants de Suède (“gloves of Sweden”), referring to its early use in glove-making.
The fabric rose to fame in the 1960s and 70s, associated with the hippie movement, and has since remained a staple in clothing, shoes, bags, and accessories. Expect suede to make another strong return in Fall 2025 fashion collections.
Faux Fur
Another texture to watch this season is faux fur, especially in outerwear. Think cropped jackets and structured long coats in fuzzy finishes that resemble sheepskin, pony hair, or traditional fur.
Earthy Tones
An autumn classic that never fades! With Pantone naming Mocha Mousse (Pantone 17-1230) as the Colour of the Year 2025, warm camel, rich copper, and soft beige are set to dominate. The palette is versatile, flattering on many skin tones, and pairs easily with staples like black and white.
Deep Dark Tones
No fall wardrobe is complete without depth. Expect plenty of navy, aubergine, and chocolate brown, especially in satin and silk. These shades exude understated elegance and luxury, perfect for eveningwear and chic everyday looks.
Pastels
Usually reserved for the warmer spring months, pastels are stepping into Fall 2025. Soft pinks and powdery blues were spotted in collections from Prada, Khaite, and Loewe, showing that light shades can work year-round. Worn with darker tones, they offer a fresh contrast for fall dressing.
Lace
Lace returns with a romantic touch, but it’s a trend to approach carefully. Quality makes the difference: intricate lace details can look refined and elegant, while cheaper versions risk feeling dated. Opt for delicate lace trimmings, dresses, or blouses that balance modern tailoring with timeless femininity.
