Spring Summer 2026 fashion trends promise to be bold, extravagant and impossible to ignore. While we wait for its full-blown arrival, let's go over all the key colours, silhouettes and styles you need to know about for the SS26 season.

The colours of the season

Brown, black, beige, grey and some more brown - preferably, a rich chocolate brown. Over the past few seasons, that was all the fashion game gave us to work with. 'Clean girl aesthetic' and monochrome reigned with a tight grip.

Don't get us wrong: we love a good monochrome look and there's nothing wrong with some neutrals, but at BIF, we're very happy to see that minimalism will have to share the stage with maximalism for this upcoming season, especially when it comes to colours.

SS26 is dominated by primary shades - meaning blue, red and yellow - as well as orange, forest green and purple. On the SS26 runways, Burberry, Alaïa and Loewe leaned heavily into saturated primary tones and we were all here for it.

The bold girlies will be chasing monochrome head-to-toe moments, but if you need some time to acclimate after seasons upon seasons of neutrals, the accessories department is a great starting point to bring some colour to your look.

Silhouettes, shapes and textures of the moment

Just like the colours, the silhouettes and shapes are bolder, too. The bubble skirt made its modern runway comeback during the Spring/Summer 2023 season and has only gained momentum since, thanks to the wide support of runway designers, such as Simone Rocha, Jacquemus and Miu Miu, as well as celebrities including Kylie Jenner and Jennifer Lawrence. This upcoming season is no exception to that. We continue to see bubble skirts and the shape even spills over onto dresses and trousers where balloon pants are having a major moment.

Talking of ‘major’ - get ready to revisit your mom’s wardrobe, because the 80s are having their comeback. Be it in form of exaggerated shoulder pads, bold colour combinations (see how it all comes together?), polka dot or flower prints that feel just a bit more vintage than usual.

Not keen on bold silhouettes? Let’s talk about textures. Three key textures define the SS26 mood: fringe, lace and leather. Imagine delicate lace trimmings or sexy fringes on coats, dresses and accessories. Granted, leather is a bit of an usual pick for spring-summer, but if you were looking for a reason to shop for patent, suede or full grain leather, consider this your sign.

Denim extravaganza

When it comes to pants, there’s been a lot of talk about skinny jeans making their comeback. And while they have made the occasional appearance, we’re far from the skin-tight styles that peaked in the 2010s. Instead, we’re sticking to straighter legs, even if they’re a bit more slim-fitted (see Dior SS26). Other than that, the denim department continues to be dominated by wide cuts, flared or bootcut styles and barrel legs.

Trending: Pirate Core

While we’re on Dior, the tricorne hat didn’t find its way onto the runway by coincidence, but rather, as a result of the so-called ‘Pirate Core’ trend that currently makes waves on TikTok. Romantic escapism and historical references continue to influence designers, which continues to trickle down into streetwear. While the hat is one example of the trend’s presence, the more subtle results are the omnipresence of silk scarves (both on head and neck), exaggerated ruffles, subtle corsetry and layered jewellery.

The star of the season: Gloves

One of the more unexpected accessories dominating the SS26 runways? Gloves. While they’re no stranger to the colder seasons, gloves have been all the rage on the spring-summer catwalks. Think Richard Quinn SS26, pairing black pairs with gorgeous gowns, or Prada SS26, who made utility-style overalls look chic with pointy kitten heels and silky gloves.
